Work Arrangements
The Social Work Department is seeking contract faculty to instruct and supervise practicum courses commencing September 5, 2023. The primary place of work will be the Coquitlam Campus and practicum sites around the Lower Mainland.

Further contracts may be awarded in the future as the need arises.

The Role
We require contract instructors for practicum supervision for the Fall and Winter semesters.

Responsibilities
As a contract practicum instructor, you will oversee the learning of students who are practicing skills in selected sites. You will facilitate student learning as they integrate and reflect upon their educational, personal and professional experiences while on practicum and during scheduled seminars. There are three areas you will be responsible for:
  1. In-person guidance and In-person practicum visits.
  2. Group Seminars with your own practicum students.
  3. Evaluation/Feedback component: written mid-term and final student evaluations/grades
The Department is seeking contract instructors for the following courses:
SOWK 3140 (Fall Semester) – Practicum
SOWK 3240 (Winter Semester) – Practicum

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
1. Masters degree in Social Work (Doctoral degree is preferred);
2. Direct social work experience engaging with children, youth, adults and/or families.
3. Experience teaching in educational or community settings an asset.
4. Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.
5. Experience with any of the following: Indigenous people; Immigrant and Refugee groups; and/or International practice.
