Work Arrangements
This position is 40 hours per week located at the WorkBC Maple Ridge office. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, but will require occasional evening shifts until 6:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Role
The Customized Employment Coach will:
  • Initiate and build relationships with employers and source work experience placements and community attachment opportunities for clients;
  • Support clients in job search activities to secure work experiences, volunteer positions and paid employment opportunities;
  • Provide follow up support to clients at the workplace to ensure that clients maintain sustainable employment.
Responsibilities
  • Identify job opportunities customized to the skills, abilities and competencies of the client;
  • Complete Discovery, Employment Profiles and create unpaid work experience opportunities;
  • Assess and refer for specialized assessments when needed to facilitate development of an Action Plan; (including medical assessment reports, Psychological and Vocational, Learning Disability, Neuropsychological, and Functional Capacity);
  • Promote the benefits and employment support services of Langley WorkBC Employment Services programs to employers in targeted industry sectors, the local business community, industry associations, and relevant community agencies;
  • Manage and respond to formal SDD client referrals and client engagement reporting using ICM Service Request guide;
  • Analyze and utilize current local labour market information to source employment opportunities for participants;
  • Provide ongoing guidance, and follow up support and assistance to both employers and clients in volunteer and employment placements;
  • Monitor client progress, conduct routine follow-up activities (e.g., 4-, 12-, 24 & 52-week follow up), and provide ongoing client support;
  • Maintain records of participant progress and provide updates through monthly reports and regular team meetings;
  • Consistently review client outcomes against performance targets, contributing strategies to ensure program targets are met;
  • Initiate, promote, organize and host a wide range of industry/employer events to enhance participant employment opportunities;
  • Keep detailed records of all participants/employer and provide statistics and reports as required;
  • Participate in regular team meetings, strategic planning and program review sessions as scheduled;
  • Work to Training Group’s Quality Management System, ISO9001:2015 standard.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, employment and career counselling, vocational counselling certifications;

Demonstrated experience in:
  • Assessing complex client needs in specialized areas, such as physical limitations, developmental disabilities, mobility skills, and cognitive, social and emotional barriers;
  • Delivering customized employment, job coaching and job development services;
  • Providing a Person with Disabilities support to function productively in Employment;
  • Conducting Disability-related needs assessments and interpreting Specialized Assessments or clinical assessments;
  • Working with individuals with complex barriers to Employment and a broad range of cultural backgrounds;
  • Identifying Assistive Technology solutions for Persons with Disabilities;
  • Building partnerships with stakeholders and employers.

In addition:
  • Current local labour market knowledge across a range of industry sectors;
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to successfully work within a multi-faceted program, and meet targets and deadlines;
  • Ability to adjust to a flexible schedule;
  • Access to a car and a BC Driver’s License is mandatory;
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check.
