Work Arrangements
The Faculty of Science & Technology is seeking a probationary regular instructor to teach Computing Science in the 2024/25 academic year. The planned workload is 87.5% with the potential to increase to full-time pending student demand.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The successful candidate must be able to teach at either one of the two Douglas College Campuses – New Westminster or Coquitlam. Some work on Saturdays or evenings may be required.

The Role
The Faculty of Science & Technology currently offers a one-year Certificate in Computing Science, a two-year Computing Science Diploma (with a Game Development stream), an Associate of Science in Computing Science, as well as first- and second-year courses for students transferring to university degree programs. Computing Science is an area of growth within the Faculty. We are seeking an excellent Computing Science instructor who brings experience and initiative, and is interested in working with a team to develop new courses and programs.
Responsibilities
As a faculty member you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organise and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centred instruction.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend meetings, participate in faculty and college-wide committees and engage in ongoing professional development. As noted above, the successful candidate will be directly involved in course and program development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Applicants must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in one of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an appropriate equivalent, from an accredited university and relevant post-secondary teaching experience. The successful candidate must be qualified to teach first- and second-year university transfer computer science courses. Experience with C++ and Python Programming is required. Experience with any of the following would be an asset: Game Development, Software Engineering, Data Structures, Object-Oriented Design, Digital Logic, and Computer Architecture.
