Work Arrangements
The Mathematics Department in the Faculty of Science & Technology at Douglas College is seeking two probationary regular instructors for the 2024-2025 academic year. One position will be full-time starting in January 2025 with Winter semester and Summer semester teaching assignments. The second position will start in Fall 2024 and may be up to full-time with teaching assignments across all three semesters.

The successful candidate must be able to teach at either one of the two Douglas College Campuses, in New Westminster and Coquitlam.

Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
The Mathematics Department offers a wide range of preparatory and first- and second-year university transfer courses. For additional program information, please refer to the Douglas College Mathematics website at: https://www.douglascollege.ca/programs-courses/faculties/science-technology/mathematics. The department is seeking excellent mathematics instructors, with a demonstrated ability to motivate students with problems in learning mathematics, while also being able to support and challenge students interested in pursuing careers in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Engineering. These instructors will enjoy working in a collaborative environment and be interested in participating in curriculum and program development.
Responsibilities
As a faculty member in the Mathematics Department you will instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in College courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners and maintain quality learner-centered instruction. You will also be expected to attend meetings, participate in faculty and college-wide committees and engage in ongoing professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Applicants should have a minimum of a Masters degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics from an accredited university and relevant post-secondary teaching experience.
