Work Arrangements
The Stagecraft and Event Technology Program in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of contract instructors qualified to teach courses in Lighting, Multimedia Technology, and Special Events.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach one or more of the following courses:
STGE 1112 Stage Lighting
STGE 1212 Stage Lighting
STGE 2400 Lighting Control Systems
STGE 2410 Multimedia Technology
STGE 2420 Special Events

We anticipate one section of STGE 1112 and STGE 1212 (each 2 credits) may be available in the Fall semester and one section each of STGE 2400, STGE 2410 and STGE 2420 (each 1 credit, 5 weeks) may be available in the Winter semester.

The Role
Contract Faculty – Stagecraft and Event Technology
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
  • teach courses to students in the Stagecraft and Event Technology Diploma program;
  • plan, organize, and manage learning activities, and maintain quality learner-centred instruction;
  • assess and evaluate students’ progress and achievement;
  • work collaboratively and collegially with Stagecraft Staff and Faculty;
  • maintain currency in the field through professional development activity; and
  • hold regular office hours for students.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • an advanced degree (MFA or equivalent) in a relevant area of Stagecraft;
  • a record of successful teaching at the post-secondary level;
  • a demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse learners;
  • strong connections with the local theatre community;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • demonstrated initiative, creativity, and self-directedness;
  • awareness of Indigenization and Reconciliation practices in post-secondary institutions and/or performing arts pedagogy;
  • evidence of ongoing professional development.
